About Cosmic Perspective Foundation:
Harold W.G. Allen, the author/founder of this non-profit foundation, has spent almost a lifetime pondering the issue of creation— especially from the point of view of an astronomer. Having given many public lectures on astronomy, he often felt that something was missing— namely, the need to answer the momentous question of Purpose. Why does the universe exist? What does it all mean? While it may be fascinating to gaze visually upon the beauty of the heavens, it is even more important to grasp the Big Picture: making philosophical sense out of what we observe!
His cosmological research eventually led to a number of revolutionary discoveries involving gravitation and radiation propagation. In turn, it soon became evident that the popular Big Bang creation model was seriously flawed and would have to be discarded. In its place, he has proposed a truly dynamic universe embracing evolution and the principle of cosmic reincarnation. (An earlier publication by the author-— The Eternal Universe— was praised as "a startling book to treasure" by "The Observatory," a prestigious astronomy journal.)
Regrettably, in spite of a multitude of amazing technological advances and a wealth of new data, there exists today an almost unbelievable degree of bias within certain factions of the scientific community. To question the validity of Big Bang cosmology is to jeopardize one's career. It has now become virtually impossible for a researcher to publish contrary opinion in any scientific journal. Criticism, no matter how impressive, is simply not acceptable!
Yet another misconception in urgent need of clarification concerns failure of the masses to subject biblical literature to a realistic and unbiased analysis. Much of what many pious souls would interpret literally has absolutely no basis in fact and totally defies scholarly revelation and common sense. (Indeed, a primary purpose of the scriptural writers is seen to lay in expression of a specific moral or principle, by means of a unique system of symbolisml!) A further theological transgression involves concealment of evidence afforded by the Dead Sea Scrolls, which clearly expose the fallacy of many cherished beliefs.
Such issues as basic human rights and the social order must also be addressed if society is to rise above the "tribal" level, and have any expectation of mankind ever forming a just and harmonious "World Society."
To this end, the Cosmic Perspective Foundation is dedicated to advancing the cause of science and philosophy, and welcomes all who would seek to enrich their understanding of life and the universe. It is to be hoped that this fledgling foundation will inspire others in a noble quest for Reality and Truth, as it pursues an ambitious program of donating books to selected college/university and public libraries.
