Lunar Encounter
Few authors would endeavor to both entertain and educate.
Still fewer would seek to incorporate a number of truly revolutionary
cosmological concepts into what is primarily a science fiction novel. In
Lunar Encounter we have just such a unique blend of
ingredients.
Although intended to inspire thought into the
nature and purpose of the universe, it will have a definite appeal to a wide
audience of readers. To those who enjoy a good mystery plot, replete with
adventure and suspense, it promises not to disappoint.
Set late in the 21st Century, the story
focuses upon a mysterious disappearance of two lunar geologists while on a
routine exploration of some cliffs south of the crater of Plato. What
ensues is a saga that threatens to undermine many of mankind's cherished beliefs
and change the very course of Earth society!
Inherent in the story is a discourse on
certain philosophical issues raised by evolution. (Where, for instance,
can one draw a line as to when emerging man is capable spiritual immortality --
to the exclusion of all other life forms?) Is there some connection
between our expanding universe and such viable principles as evolution and
cosmic reincarnation?
Reality, as the reader may well discover,
could turn out to be far stranger than fiction.
The Universe
A poem by
H.W.G.A.
Through distant ages man has gazed,
with reverence, into the sky;
Foremost in his mind, that momentous question:
Why?
How far are yonder points of light?
Shining like tiny beacons on the
darkest night?
Whence came the stars, our heavenly host,
Their soft light
shimmering like a phantom ghost?
Born of countless suns our Milky Way
doth shine,
An enigma to ancient theories, which man must now
refine.
Beyond the reaches of our Galaxy, in the enveloping depths of
space,
Unnumbered starry systems participate in a truly cosmic race.
For
the very universe is expanding, at a most prodigious rate:
Motivated, one
would deduce, by Principle: A synonym of Fate.
